Want to do a Fundraiser?
Stand with Ukraine & do a fundraiser
Here are a few ideas that others have done since 2022:
- A Manitoba elementary school class raised funds and sent the charity a cheque.
- Calgary church groups set up two separate bottle drives. Volunteers signed up to deliver flyers and a week later, to collect bottles. The local bottle depot left a cube van in their church parking lot to deposit bottles and issued a cheque to the charity once the bottles were tallied.
- A Newfoundland marketplace set up donation boxes at all the stores and blasted out the fundraiser on local media.
- A Yukon gift shop/gallery has an ongoing fundraiser from the sale of goods and paintings by Ukrainian artists.

A percentage of sales are regularly donated directly to the CanadaHelps site by the store owner. - A group of men in B.C. set up Project Volya for first aid for front-line soldiers. The items were personally delivered to soldiers by one of them over three visits. This task is now done by a local pharmacist who works with front-line soldiers, and other volunteers within Ukraine. Donations to Project Volya are made directly to Canada Helps on a drop-down menu on the S.O.S. Ukraine page. CanadaHelps issues a receipt to each donor.
- Several Canadian business owners encouraged their staff and sent a compiled donation from them and their companies.
- You can also always donate directly to CanadaHelps, United Way, Benevity, Charitable Impact, PayPal Giving Fund, and others who direct the donations to us – or contact us through our website to mail a cheque to the charity and receive an official tax receipt.
The possibilities are great and the impact is also great – and real.
The families and soldiers helped through these initiatives have been fed, clothed, housed and given life-saving first aid and medicines. They shed tears of gratitude and report back with photos, receipts, emails, and their sincere thanks, describing the impact on their lives that our donors make.
What project could you do? Send your thoughts using the form below. For example, Value Village will partner with any team to pay you for collected clothing. Solicit local businesses or set up a fundraising page for S.O.S. Ukraine on CanadaHelps and share it.
Thank you, all, for supporting the defenders and survivors of democracy in these perilous times.
